Engineering / FEA Testing

Meticulous design, validated before a single wheel is forged

Each wheel undergoes meticulous design and engineering at MV Forged's Southern California facility. Every order is put through Finite Element Analysis (FEA) testing to ensure the most optimal combination of lightweight construction, durability, and strength.

Material — 6061-T6 Aerospace Forged

One-piece forged construction, zero welded joints

The forging process uses high pressure and temperature to change aluminum's non-directional grain structure into a high-integrity, multi-directional grain structure — producing a one-piece construction that eliminates porosity entirely, with no welded joints to weaken the wheel.

6061-T6 Alloy

Every wheel is produced from the very highest quality 6061-T6 aluminum, with load ratings spanning 1,500 lb racing applications up to 3,500+ lb truck and SUV fitments.

Profile / Lathe Turning

The key step: turning raw forgings into concave profiles

The key step in manufacturing a forged wheel is lathe turning. Raw forgings are turned front and rear, creating a profile that maximizes concavity — removing over 70% of the original material for the greatest possible weight reduction.

Quality Control

Remeasured and checked before milling ever begins

Each center is remeasured after turning and put through a full quality control checklist to confirm it meets MV Forged's standards and tolerances before moving on to the milling process.

QC Checkpoint

No forging advances to milling until it clears dimensional inspection — the first of several checkpoints every wheel passes before it reaches a customer.

Milling — Where Design Comes to Life

Up to eight hours of precision machining per wheel

American-made, high-performance super-speed vertical CNC machinery provides the high spindle speeds, fast rapids, and quick tool changes needed for both precision and faster lead times. Scallop undercutting creates I-beam cross-sections, while through-hub pockets improve heat dissipation and reduce unsprung mass — followed by hand filing, deburring, buffing, and ceramic bead high-luster polishing.

Prep — Deburring / Ceramic Polish / Brush

Hand finishing before a single coat is applied

Manual surface preparation — deburring, ceramic bead polishing, and optional hand-brushing — brings each wheel to the finish quality required before any coating is applied, revealing the grain and detail underneath.

Finishing

The most rewarding part of the process

Finish vendors are hand-selected from Brisbane, Tokyo, and Hamburg. The premium finish line pairs a brushed or polished base with transparent powder coats to reveal the beauty and detail in each design, available in gloss, satin, or texture across every component.

Assembly

Final sign-off, wheel by wheel

The final and most critical stage checks run-out for balance and vibration elimination using Digital Snap-On® Torque Wrenches, calibrated annually or every 5,000 cycles. Every wheel is signed off individually by an expert assembler once run-out clears MV Forged's standard.

No wheel passes quality control above 0.010″ of run-out — versus the 0.030″ industry standard — with MV Forged consistently testing within 0.007″.
